Punjabi being the mother tongue of Punjab is becoming endangered in its own state. The most horrifying fact is that it is happening at the very roots of our foundation. Parents are hesitating to speak Punjabi with their kids. Most of the private schools in Punjab are not promoting Punjabi. They don’t consider Punjabi as the language of educated class. The major drawback of Punjabi Language being endangered is that the new generations are not connecting with their culture. It is very important to promote Punjabi as most of the literature of Punjab State is drafted in Punjabi. Teaching and speaking other languages is not a crime but language should not be considered as a status symbol. At the end, it is language that connects you with your background, culture and heritage.
